Rules Please make sure to read these rules carefully as non compliance with the rules can result in the banning of your account on the Her Interactive Message Board. ___________________________________________________ Code of Conduct The Golden Rule: In this board (and out in the world) this means "Treat others as you wish to be treated". The Grandparents/Parents Rule: Don't type anything in this board that you wouldn't say in front on your parents or grandparents. Please keep everything to a Disney G rating - if you can't imagine Cinderella or Belle doing it in a movie, then it should not be on the message board. Personally Identifiable Information: Do not give out personally identifiable information about yourself in the message board such as real name, address, parent's names, phone number, email address, school, etc. Please do not give out other people's personal information either such as friend's real names or addresses. Bad Words: Bad words, foul language, cussing, swearing, etc. are not acceptable in this message board. No Harassment: Threatening, offensive, obscene, aggressive or bullying type of remarks are considered harassment and have no place in this Message Board or any other public area. Web Links or Email Addresses: Do not post any web links or email address links in the message board. No step by step on how to get to another board will be allowed either. Beta Tester & Advisory Panel: Do not reveal your status as a beta tester or Advisory Panel member. Discussing selection or testing processes is also prohibited and may result in your removal from future beta tests or the advisory panel. General Posting Rules User names: To avoid confusion, user names similar to moderator names are not allowed. Each person is only allowed to have one username. Spamming (aka: Repeating Messages): Do not post the same message more than once. Nearly everyone uses the "View New Posts" option when they enter the forum, and seeing the same message several times in different folders only annoys folks. Duplicate messages will be *deleted* without notice! By "duplicate", we mean the same message in a given folder numerous times and/or the same message in multiple folders. Such as posting in every board, "I'll help you with this game, just post your question. (This is considered "spamming.") If you inadvertently spam, you'll probably find out *really fast*. Users are just trying to help you -- so enjoy their wisdom and get back to having fun in the message board. - Folder "Spamming" (multiple copies of a message in one folder) - Board "Spamming" (the same posting in multiple folders) - Re-answering questions on the game boards that have already been answered. - Bringing up old threads on the game boards. - "Up"ping posts (bringing up your thread to the top of the list by re-posting) - Double posting on the same thread. (Members are asked to use the edit button to edit their previous posts). For example: If no one is helping out on the game board, have patience and wait. - Posting empty posts that just say "" or "hi". - "Ask me for help" Posts. Topic Names: Write descriptive, helpful topics for other users. Your readers shouldn’t have to guess about the message they are going to read. Descriptive topics make your getting a response more likely. For example, try using, "Help - Cannot put out fire!" or "Stuck - Tile Puzzle" or "Help: Paintbrush & Finger Print" is much more helpful (and you'll usually get a quicker response) than making a topic that only reads "Help" or "Stuck". Correcting Users: If you see a user doing something that does not follow the rules or makes you uncomfortable, contact a moderator or email webmaster@herinteractive.com. You do not need correct the user yourself. Let one of the moderators do it! Religion: This is a sensitive subject and we ask that users respect and tolerate all religions. Graphic descriptions that are not G rated and satanic messages are not allowed. Word Case: ALL CAPS: Please do not use all capital letters. In the online world this is considered shouting. all lower case: All lower case is difficult to read. If you are writing a message that has more than one sentence you should use proper capitalization. This makes it easier for people to read your response. Punctuation/Form: This is a message board, not a chat room. Using proper punctuation and capitalizing the first word in a sentence makes reading your post much easier. Please take time to properly compose your post(s). Font size: Please use a maximum size 2 font in posts (including cover pages) - this helps keep scrolling to a minimum. Signatures are exempt from this rule as they must fit within the siggie ruler. Chatting Chatting: Please remember that the Her Interactive Message Board is not a chat board. For the enjoyment of users, Her Interactive, Inc. has provided several boards where users may discuss various topics related to Nancy Drew, Mysteries, the books and the games, but threads are strictly limited to Nancy Drew related topics. PMs: Private Messages have been disabled due to abuse and security reasons. They will not be returning in the near future. This topic is not up for review. Non-Game Specific Boards: These boards are a privilege and can be removed at any point in time at the discretion of Her Interactive. They are not to be used for chatting. Once a board has been removed, it is permanent, and will not be coming back. This topic is not up for review. Game board posting rules Game Hints: This board is mainly a game hints and tips board. Unless you specify otherwise, most uses who respond in this board will be giving you a hint so you can get a little bit of help and then figure out that part of the game yourself. If you want step-by-step information then be sure to ask. Spoilers: A spoiler is revealing the identity of a/the culprit(s) or posting direct answers such as phone numbers, passwords, codes, answers to quizzes, etc. Spoilers are only allowed using the "spoiler code" tags as shown below, and only when a gamer specifically requests a spoiler. Spoiler code:
Put your spoiler here!
Please do not use the Spoiler code in your signatures. This is not what it was designed for. If you are caught using this to "hide" text, your account may be subject to banning. Walkthroughs: A walkthrough is an outline of how to play a game: Please note that Her Interactive, Inc. does not support walkthroughs. By using walkthroughs or hints and tips found on this board, it is at your own risk. You may get stuck in the game as you haven't completed all the tasks necessary to move on. We suggest you purchase a strategy guide from our online store. Posting Answers in the Game Boards: - Hints are better than explicit answers unless the users ask for a step-by-step answer. - Avoid clogging up the game boards with posts that do not answer the question (i.e., "I don't know the answer to that, but good luck"). - If you don't know the answer, leave the question for someone else. You'll have your chance to answer a question. You can also go back an replay that portion of the game to brush up your skills. - Note Jr. or Sr. detective modes when appropriate. - If you don't know the correct answer, do not try and answer the question, this will only confuse the user more. If you need help posts: The purpose of this board is to help gamers. Each question on the board is a gamer that needs help already. It is therefore unnecessary to post "if you need help" or "I can help you" threads. This only clogs up the boards. If you want to help, please answer *open* questions on the forum. If a question has already been correctly answered, do not answer it again. Signature rules Signatures: When creating a signature with text or graphics, keep the signature under within the ruler limit. If you use large fonts, you must compare it against the signature ruler. If you use large fonts, you must compare it against the signature ruler. Do not use large signatures as it creates dead space that everyone has to scroll through to find the next post. Please do not use Spoiler codes in your signatures. For a complete guide to posting on the Signature Boards, please read the FAQ sticky on Signature Heights and the sticky on Signature Questions.
