Alright so a lot of people are not happy about
Nancy's mom being alive or changing her story.
But honestly it really doesn't change Nancy's
story, all HER is doing is telling the true
story of her mom, like adding onto
Nancy's story.
So it wouldn't mess up the fact that she grew
up without a mom, and was raised by Hannah.
So I just wanted to get that out there,
for the people that were worried it would
change Nancy.
I think her mom really is dead, just not
the way Nancy thought, and Nancy has
to figure out what happened, and/or
finish the job her mom was working on. :)

I agree that it wouldn't change her life very much up till now, but how about after now? How about when her mom becomes a phone friend, or an actual character in a game?

The only other reason I hope Nancy's mom isn't alive is that I feel like it would differ from the main story too much, the story that has always been a part of Nancy Drew; Bess and George, Ned, Carson, and (in the books), Hannah. I just feel like adding things to that main story of Nancy's life would make it seem a little more fake.

Kate Drew's death had a huge impact on Nancy's life. Kate died in a mysterious accident, which played an important role in Nancy's future. Nancy is always determined to find the truth, likes investigating and is always drawn to mystery.

If her mom hadn't died like that, maybe Nancy Drew wouldn't have been Nancy Drew.

If Kate Drew is somehow alive, Nancy's life and personality would take a serious turn. She may even lose her love for playing detective, since it was triggered by her mom's death.

in TMB Bess said her mom's death got Nancy
started at mysteries cause it was a mystery how
she really died, so Nancy just finally gets to
figure it out....plus it might not change her,
I mean if her mom was a spy then
Nancy would want to go on, to make her
mom proud...:)
