CassandraBelic♫, I really like the atomic mass idea, as the people at Amateur Sleuth like their puns and " you might want to wait before taking a stab at this one" makes me think WEIGHT! WEIGHT! WEIGHT!

24+9 would also be 33. (for Robinson and the fitness standard.)

-- Puzzle 32 Hint --

To keep you going, I want to say that many of your thoughts are on the right track (particularly one concerning Wednesday's hint) but just in case, here's a few pointers for each comparison to help out:

Mg + Be = you might want to wait before taking a stab at this one

Robinson Cano + millesimal fineness standard = it's about who he is now, and that's fine with us

Second Baseman + Saturn (rounded down) = this one is about being in position even after running all the way around

XL - 111 = there's two sides to every #; some are static, and some are roaming

In regards to Saturn and "being in position even after running all the way around" - could that refer to Saturn making one full orbit around the Sun? That would be one Saturn year, which equals 29.4 Earth years - or 29, rounded down. I know nothing about baseball though so I don't know how "second baseman" would combine with that to equal 33...

Also, I think that "111" is the last three digits of the binary code for 7, so 40 (XL) - 7 (111) also equals 33

In baseball, the second baseman is assigned the number 4. The number is used to record defensive plays.
So Saturn (29) + Second Baseman (4) = 33!

Awesome! So now we're just down to the last one.

It occurred to me that our hint may be in the form of another pun! "some are static, and some are roaming." Roaming=Roman? Static sounds like "Attic" numbers, but I am not sure if I'm on the right path with that. The only problem is that we were already thinking in terms of Roman numerals, and, to a certain extent, the Attic numbers 111 would still be 3. *stumped*

Awesome work, you guys! And fnn fan is right. 111 is the binary number for 7, so you all already have the last line solved. 40 minus 7 equals 33.

So I reckon the answer is 33, since all of the lines in the puzzle end up with that answer. Great job!

Well, binary by definition has to be divisible by eight, right? I'm a bit confused...Still, though, I think it could just be a base-2 number system (the "two sides to every number"), and since those two numbers would be 1 and 0, it would work out so that 7 is 111. (1, 10, 11, 100, 101, 110, 111) Is that what you mean?
Ok, never mind. Apparently, the "Binary Numeral System" is just another name for base-2. What happened to the eight digits? *confused* When I put 7 in a binary converter, it gives me 00110111. (???)
Oh well, I guess you really do learn something new every day!

My money is on 33 100%!
