Is HI Pushing The E Rating Again?

Did anyone else notice in the screenshot, that by the lightpost there's a sign for a bar? Does anyone else think that HI might be pushing the E rating again?

Not at all. Bars are not exactly rated E for Everyone, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. I'm guessing looking at the location of the sign, that they figured a sign for a bar would appear natural in that scenery. Also, it's just really a sign, not a big factor in the mystery (I'm guessing...)

I didn't think it was a problem. I took it as like any other street sign. Now if you had to go into the bar then perhaps it would be pushing the E rating.

But this is only my opinion.

I don't actually see what you're getting at here, but I will say that if you did see something wrong with that picture, it could be that this new series will have a different rating. I don't think so though. I think it'll still be E.

I don't remember them pushing it ever, really, but that PSV rating system thingy sure did......

I don't think that they are pushing it. It looks to me like a typical neighborhood/business block. In fact it looks kind of like they are going for a 30's atmosphere to me. Wouldn't that be cool?

I was wondering the same thing, and it really concerned me. I'm really getting sick of these sorts of things slipping into the games.

I really hope it isn't a bar. Maybe it's just part of a barbeque restaurant sign? I doubt that's the case, but there's a slim chance. If it is a bar, Nancy had better not go anywhere near it.

Well, I don't know if they're pushing the E rating or not, but I do think that the bar sign fits right in with that scene. It looks to me like it's supposed to be a seedy water-front back alley that's kind of scary and dangerous at night. A pawn shop, a place advertising loans, litter on the streets, garbage cans, old papers hanging on the lamp posts... yeah, I'd say a bar would fit right in.

I don't know about you, but I plan to go there, find what is hidden and then scram... but fast!

You are priceless!!!
I almost used "seedy" to discribe the area as well because it does look like a scary place.

To look on the better side, it might just be a wine bar.

It looks dark and mysterious. I love it! I don't think they're pushing it. It takes a lot to lose an E rating.

Even so, Nancy's underage.
(Least she is where I live.)
And I feel like having a bar
picture, or a having Nancy drive by
one, etc, isn't a huge deal. If she
were to go into one... I don't know.
It seems kinda un-Nancy Drew.
And un-lawful. What kind of example
would that be?

I don't know if they are pushing the E rating per say, as that seems to be loosely defined in our society. However, I do think HI is pushing the boundaries lately when it comes to Nancy's character.

It's one thing to have her go to a rough part of town to do some investigating. It's another thing to include a bar. I don't recall any of the Nancy Drew books mentioning a bar, unless the newer books have fallen away from the wholesome standards that were set by the original writers and are now including them.

Personally, I was not comfortable at all with Nancy dancing in a night club as she did in VEN. It was so out of character for the Nancy Drew I've known for so many years and struck me as cheap and tacky. I'm sure Mildred Wirt Benson (the original writer of Nancy Drew) would be heartbroken to have seen this. I can only hope that the bar is merely a sign on the street and nothing more.

I don't believe they are, because it's not like she is drinking any alocohol, and it took me a minute or so to even find it, so if it is difficult to find, I don't believe it is too bad.

Usualy I am the one protecting HER but this time around I dunno its plain to the eye that it says "Bar" and I find it offensive. Not because I have a kid but because this isnt the nancy drew I remember. Back in the older games it was diffrent there was the story and clear boundries were set. But lately HER have been throwing things in I dont appreciate. Like in ven it wouldnt been one thing for nancy to dance, but in a cat suit she looked like...I dont know how to put it without people getting mad...she looked like she was cheap and sleezy. And I hate to say that because thats not Nancy, Nancy is a role modle and wants to help others, but did they really have to make nancy do that in ven? Or in hau they called the fruit bar just a bar. I didnt find that too offensive because I knew that their drinks were not alcholic. But seeing that sign in this new game turns my stomach. Why would HER put a Bar sign up there. This time we dont know if its a real bar with real drinks or a fruit bar...and it really bothers me. I wish HER would rethink things before they throw stuff in and realize they need to go back to the old Nancy we fell in love with.
