    The Curse of Blackmoor Manor
    A Review by Songlily

    Mode:
    Senior Detective

This might have been my favorite game to date.

    Difficulty & Puzzles
Very long, very hard. This game is definitely a challenge. I had to post questions
on the board and/or look at past threads for help several times--something I've
never had to do with any other game. The puzzles are hard and somewhat
time-consuming, but you feel a great sense of accomplishment once you've
finished them. Also, any long puzzles are not long in a sense of easy-but-tedious
pointlessness--they're genuinely long and hard. Great fun.
Not for those who want an easy solution to everything =)

    Setting & Graphics
The setting was gorgeous--HER's graphics get better with every game.
There are no locations outside the manor for you to explore, but the manor itself
provides an ample amount of snooping opportunities. Also, once you advance
a bit in the game, a lot of your time is spent underneath the manor.
All of it contains exquisite details and rich colors.

    Gameplay & Scare Factor
    There is an alarm clock in the game so that you can advance the time on your own;
also certain events trigger other ones that move the game along as well.
I always looked forward to going to sleep--usually something exciting was bound
to wake me up in the middle of the night! On that note, there are many
'jump' moments, when unexpected things happen, people seem to pop out
of nowhere, etc. Adds to the overall creepy atmosphere of the game.

    Information
Processing and using large amounts of information is key here. You must
write down important details, because by the time you need to reference back,
so many other bits of information have popped up that it becomes somewhat
of a jumble! It helps to make sections for each ancestor, each puzzle, and each
part of the manor to keep everything straight. During the game you find several
different sets of symols, constellations, chemical equations, coats of arms--
the list goes on and on. Anyone interested in history and/or science should
    like this one.

    Characters
The characters were very fun, particularly since one was a child and another
remained hidden throughout the game (and yet another chose to just...appear
at the most inopportune moments). I had no idea who the culprit/s was/were--
very tricky. The animation of the characters was superb, as usual, though Jane
(the child) seemed a bit disproportional.

All in all, this game stretches your mental capacities and delights your imagination.

    10/10

Wow, Songlily, you are BRILLIANT!! (not yelling) That review was very very very very dead-on, and you should definitely write more. You are really helping everyone who doesn't have the game yet, so great job and reps for you!
