Are you talking about when you are
under the windmill and locked in the stained glass room?

        The code is
        2157

I'm not sure it will work unless you do the steps in the game. For that reason, and also in case you would lile to understand how it works, here is that section from the Strategy Guide:
Place the letter back in the glass case. You
can’t do anything but shut the lid. When you
do so, iron bars drop behind you, trapping
you in the chamber with the stained glass artwork.
What do you do now? Step up to the
panel on the bars and open it. Inside are a
four-digit combination lock and a message
        that reads: “UNE DERNIERE ENIGME,
CHER AMI.” Look closer and you’ll see some
spaces beneath each of the letters. Remember
the old letter from Rose P. tucked in the back
of the red book that you found in Dieter’s
office? Noisette left three red asterisks next to
a suggestion—the red pen that she used to
write “CHER AMI” on the photo of the
M380. If the catacomb pack rats didn’t take
your brown book on codes, look up the section
on Date Shift Cipher. You’ll have to do
this next step on a piece of paper outside of
the game, but it's not difficult.Write a date
shift cipher based on the number 380 and the
        message below the four-digit combination
lock. For example, for the letter U, shift it
three spaces and write X. Then shift the letter
N eight spaces to read V. The letter E doesn’t
shift because the value is zero. Now repeat the
380 pattern, matching each letter in the message
with three, eight and zero until you end
up with an encoded message that reads:
        XVEGMRQQEUMEQQGPMCKMRDUI.
Now set the dials on your M380 decoder to
the three roman numerals at the end of
Noisette’s final letter: X, IV and III. If you did
it right and enter the date shift code that you
        created, the decoder will write
        “DEUX………….UN.CINQ..SE.PT.” Check
your French dictionary and the words translate
to two, one, five and seven. Enter 2157
into the combination and the iron bars will
open. You are free to flee!

Thanks I got out but I hope I won't have to decode anything else because I still don't really get it.
