I agree with you - I loved the game overall, but I felt that the ending was weak. Without discussing too much for the review board, I will say that I felt that a lot of loose ends were not tied up. Also, I didn't particularly care for the varied ending options, but luckily you can just choose the good one.

    Ghost of Thornton Hall

If I had to summarize Ghost of Thornton Hall in one sentence it'd be; I want mooooooore. In most games, HeR has an interesting but simple and neat plot that they're able to tie up at the end of the game. Ghost of Thornton is not one of these games. Not everything is fully explained. The first time I played the game, this annoyed me. I had so many questions and I felt like they were all being half answered. But then I did some digging around on the good old internet and found an list of questions someone sent HeR about GTH and HeR sent back some answers. The HeR employee (who I'm guessing was one of the writers) mentioned that in GTH they tried to answer things with hints instead of direct answers. That way, they could keep the darker elements of the plot vague enough that younger players wouldn't see them, but older players could piece them together. Now I'm not going in to those darker elements because these are the boards and I don't want to get kicked off. But I do think it is an interesting approach- have a scary but relatively light story that covers a dark twisted one. The problem is there aren't enough hints. I can piece some stories together to answer my own questions but some questions I don't have enough context for. I wish that there were more papers and notes hidden around the island. I wish we had a little bit more information about the characters. I wish we could explore more of the island and the house in particular. I have to cut HeR some slack. They only have so much time to write dialog and clues, animate characters and events, and make places for the player to explore. But Ghost of Thornton Hall such a complex plot with many many story lines that I wish they could expand it. I don't think Nancy heard the entire ending. But at the same time, I don't understand the villain's motive completely. I know one of the reasons, but not the whole story. I completely understand why HeR can't spell out something that would traumatize young players, but I wish I had more context. Sometimes the plot got bent a little to fit in a puzzle or two.
Don't get me wrong. I didn't despise this game. The dialog was beautiful, and the character were fascinating. I just want more.

I agree, I hate those type of endings! They are no fun to me. I definitely miss the old endings. I like when the culprit knocks you out and chases you. Not merely making a decision or doing a puzzle and then the ending scene comes up. I also was confused with the GTH culprit's motive as well, it kind of just happened and I didn't really understand.

The Good Overall it is a good game. I loved the story line and the American history that went along with it. The graveyard, crypt, ruins, old house & tunnels were all awesome features of the game. Charolettes restless spirit and all the creepy happenings were all very strong features of the game. The storyline for the characters were all good in their own ways.

The Not So Good I feel like the game was lacking in some departments. For example the Ruins, Charolettes room & the graveyard all need expanded exploring ability - they were such good features but they left me hanging because there wasn't much you could do within them. Also I feel like with all that cool forest/swamp behind the house that you should of been able to explore some of that as well, like in Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake.
The ending was the most disappointing feature of the game to me. There was so much oppurtunity for an amazing ending that wasn't at all taken advantage of. It just... ended. The "Bad Person" needs developement when it comes to motive and execution of their plans/plot.

Like I said overall I am very happy I played the game and look forward to catching up on my ND games. Please keep the 'Ghoslty" & 'Haunted' games coming :D
Yes, I agree with you. I was really disappointed with the ending. I really thought HER could have done a better job with it. I didn't really like it how you could choose three different endings

I agree with you on the ending it could have been a lot better, I'm not a big fan of the multiple endings either, I'm kind of in the middle when it comes to exploring ability. I don't think the game was lacking it at all but it could have been expanded.

I do agree with you, it's a good game. It's just doesn't have a good ending, it didn't needed the muliple endings, well, I liked the 'right' ending, not the others.

What I'm going to have to disagree with you, is that a big space to explore can be so annoying, I got lost so much times in TRN and TMB. I think the space was for the game, it symbolized how dark the family was, a family puts so much into their home, the Thorntons are/were a broken family.

DOG and GTH are too different games with different stories, you shouldn├Ęt compare the two. Micky was weathly, so he had a large lot, also, it was most likely being cared for. Where with the Thornton's island, they let it go, allowed it to become a depressing place, to symbolized the darkness of the family.
