Senior Detective - Hint for Box at Back of Zekes

Hello,
I'm looking for a hint on how to open the box in the back of Zeke's. More over, I'm looking at what to do with the enclosed letter and the hamlet references to find the code for the box. Thank you.

The directions for this puzzle aren't very clear, but the idea is to use one of the Hamlet reference numbers to count off certain letters in the note. Then the string of letters can be put to use.
