  • Could have been better

The action and the plot were really good. The games with the monkeys were excessive and the time spent sailing and driving were a little much but I did get better when I printed off a map.

I liked that there was interaction between George and Nancy. Would have been nice to have more. I was so tired of the game that I just looked up spoilers for the puzzles at the end. They were a little hard.

I won't be playing this one again even though I'd like to find the extra surprise.

    • It's a 5

I gave it a 5. I don't think this game was truly horrific, but I am very disappointed with it. It was completely obvious who the villain was. One thing I did like was seeing George and Bess. Also playing as George. There were some parts where I had absolutely no clue what to do had to look up hints because it was too confusing. It wasn't a hard game, just confusing.
"Hope is the thing with feathers
      That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
      And never stops at all.

And sweetest in that Gale is heard
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little Bird
      That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land
      And on the strangest Sea
Yet never - in Extremity -
It asked a crumb of me."

      • I know this game doesn't get a lot of love around here, but I honestly don't think it's that bad. I actually enjoyed chasing the treasure, decoding the journal and following on clues. I didn't mind driving and sailing around at all, even though some paths were annoyingly long, I thought it was pretty relaxing. The setting was nice, and there were enough puzzles and activities to keep Nancy busy at all times. I ejoyed most puzzles (except an infamous one near the end which has me press the Second Chance button every time I play). I liked that I got to play as George, I wish those sequences had been longer or more frequent though (kind of like with Bess in CRY).

I really wish there had been more characters / suspects, even though the culprit's identity made sense to me (quite machiavellian that one ). Interacting with characters is very important in my opinion, and I missed that in RAN. There could also have been more snooping / exploring - there were some beautiful landscapes, but we couldn't see much of them, and not that many clues to uncover. Getting to sail around and dive made up for it a little bit. I know Nancy is supposed to be level-headed, but I would have expected her to panick a little bit more. Bess is her best friend, and seeing her kidnapped seems to affect her less than Maya's disappearance in FIN... And George was pretty useless throughout the game, while I take her character to be savvy and dependable. She could have had more tasks to do, player-controlled or not.

I gave it a 7. It's a game I mostly enjoy, and am happy to play everytime, but it has some definite room for improvement.
