Stuck finding jade pieces.

I was playing this and then stopped. Now I'm back at it but i'm so stuck. I have one jade piece and have gotten through all three levels of the monolith. I know I need more pieces, but where are they?

I called Bess and George for hints and they said

go back to the last level of the monolith and look around

I did that and have no idea what to look for..
