..............................................MyCatTilly Presents,
Plot
Soap opera star, Mattie Jenson, has invited you out to her house to investigate some creepy occurrences. Rick Arlen, her co-star, has received dozens of death threats and poisoned chocolates! As if that weren’t enough, during filming, morbid messages appear on the teleprompter predicting an early fate for the TV hunk. But despite all of this, he isn't taking any of it seriously. Is it a publicity stunt? Or is there really a murderous maniac on the loose?
Very intriguing. The main storyline is much more thrilling then some of the newer games (*coughcoughCREcough*). As the game goes on, you begin to feel a greater and greater sense of urgency. You can also get caught snooping which is one of the best parts of any ND game. The main problem is, the story can move a bit slow.

Graphics
Taking into account that the game was made many many years ago, the graphics are great. However, compared to today's technology, the characters look like they are made out of plastic and are rather stiff. On the other hand, the backgrounds are pretty great for the time. They can look a little cut/paste but, all in all, they don't distract you from the game.
Considering the time period I give it: 6/10

Puzzles/Activities
The first time that I played the game, the puzzles were challenging to the point of being frustrating. Now that I've played the game a few times, they've become much easier (in a good way) and fun. So for re-play value, the activities work pretty well.
There aren't as many puzzles and whatnot as there are in the newer games. This game focuses more on snooping and sleuthing. Depending on your preference, this could either a good thing or a bad thing. For me, it's pretty good but the whole story would've felt more complete if there were a few added activities.
All of that being said, there is a "puzzle" in this game that your phone friends will keep telling you to do but, there is no real way to solve this. Talk about frustrating.
I give them 6.5/10

Characters
The characters are pretty good. They have strong identities and are pretty entertaining. On the other hand, some of the them aren't very dimensional.
Be prepared for their eccentric personalities!
I give it 6.5/10

Ending *Spoiler Free*
I have one main problem with the ending, and that is that there is no surprise as to who the bad guy/gal is. You find undeniable evidence about midway through the game, which is a bit odd. That being said, this is a pretty cool ending. I wouldn't say that it's violent, but it is more threatening than the newer games. You need to think fast to escape the culprit who has, more or less, gone crazy.
The actual gameplay for the ending is, well, kind of lame. But I feel that the rest of the ending (as well as the rest of the game, in general) makes up for it.
I give it 7.5/10

Overall
I think it's a fun game and you should give it a shot. It's quite a bit different from the newer games, so keep an open mind and I think you'll enjoy it. You can really see the changes that HER has made over the years.
Overall score: 7/10
Creepiness (10 equals terrifying): 4/10
Difficulty (10 equals hair pulling): 5/10
"Should I buy this game?"
There isn't a single ND game that I wouldn't recommend that you buy. For STFD, I wouldn't necessarily suggest that it's your first because it's not a good representation of the series. What I mean is, if you didn't like this game, don't let that stop you from trying out the others (TRT, GDML, DDI, and SHA are great for both first time sleuths and more seasoned detectives)
Happy Gaming!
