I loved all the characters, and there was deffinatly a different side of Nancy that we never saw before which was an interesting expierence.
But I gave the game a four because it was too easy and too boring... for me at least.
A four?!?! Really?!? I'm surprised at myself. If I could, I'd re-rate this game an 8! This was the last game that I played out of order when I first got into the games and I remember having high expectations for it because the wait was so long to play it. Because I had built it up so much in my head it ended up not being exactly what I was expecting when I finally got my hands on it (though who knows what I was expecting). This game holds it own though and I always enjoy a replay all these years later, it's a classic!

This idea is just made for a mystery, maybe sometime like an opera theatre? Nancy Drew and the phantom of the opera house or something sounds like the next great thing to me(:

I just played this game for the first time, & I agree! I actually gave it a 5... TRT happens to be my all-time favorite, so I think I expected this game to be spectacular since it was the next game released, and yeah it just wasn't. Culprit was too easy to spot also. Not the worst game, but I'm selling my copy :/

    My Final Impressions

I have decided to rate this game 9/10. Why, you ask?

I love the setting and story-line involved in this game---an old theater, Houdini history, and secret passageways! What's not to love? I also enjoyed the mystery. There are not many games involving kidnappings/missing persons, so this mystery definitely stands out from the rest. The characters are interesting, the music is wonderful, the ending is exciting, and the overall game play is eerie and intense (in a good way). There are not many puzzles in this game; however, it is packed full of sleuthing and I think that makes up for it. Also, did I mention the music!?

On the other hand, I recall a tad too many phone conversations, and Nancy did not seem to handle this case as professionally as others. She acted too emotionally invested in her investigation. But, in the end, Nancy pulled herself together and solved the case. All is right with the ND world.

    7/10

In my ND heydey I found this game to be super tricky, which I loved! I enjoyed the whole Harry Houdini lesson, although I think HER could have done a lot more with the location and plot. This game had a lot of potential and was a blast to play, however I do believe that more could have been done with it.

    7/10

I just played this game last night (after remembering I never finished it) and I'm rating this game 7/10. The graphics were pretty good for this being the 5th game made. I feel like graphics for TRT were better, but there were more places to go in that game. The characters were at times snooty, but also, so was Nancy. She was definitely loosing her cool a few times but hey, her friend was just kidnapped. The music was perfect. Absolutely perfect for the mood. Especially at the end when you're running out of time. You definitely can feel the pressure with the music. Yes, it was short! But I think it was supposed to be. You only have 3 days to figure out the mystery and in real time that's about 3-4 hours. I played the whole game w/help of a walkthrough b/c I only had a short window of time to play and I didn't want to get stuck and wish I had more time to play it. But there weren't many puzzle and if you're truly stuck, all you had to do was call Bess or Ned or talk to everyone as there's only 4 people in the theatre minus yourself. The phone convo's were tedious and I actually made dinner while Nancy spoke to the guy from the Library of Congress. The Houdini history was very interesting and I liked how much you could snoop!! The culprit was eh, good ending but I had already looked up whodunit before so it wasn't a great shock and I'm not sure if I would've figured it out before hand. So if you like to snoop, a quick, short, fun game and not a lot of puzzle's this is the game for you! Definitely in my top 5 favorite ND games!

    Pros and Cons

    Pros:
    -exciting beginning/end
    -the snooping
    -lots of secret passageways
    -well-developed characters
    -Nicholas
    -suspense
    -the whole magic theme
    -learning card tricks

    Cons:
    -EVERYTHING's locked
    -too short
    -Simone
    -obvious culprit
    -too much phone conversations
    -not enough puzzles :(
-couldn't figure out what to do next
    -Nancy's rudeness

    6/10

I loved all the snooping and secret passageways, but I felt like there was something missing. I got really frustrated at times, and Nancy was no help. "It's locked" "it's locked" it's locked" I KNOW!!!! Another thing that bothered me was how rude Nancy was to everybody, it was just so unlike her. And the game was so short-- I never felt like I was actually drawn into the game. Oh well, it was kind of fun nonetheless.

I liked the game. Not one of my favorites. I gave it an 7 because it was short, but I totally wasn't expecting the culprit at the end

I liked the story so i gave it an 8 but the one thing that bothered me was that nancy seemed to be really rude and annoying to all the suspects she just seemed to lose her wits and just stumoled around the mystery clueless but otherwise i did like the game.overall

    Favorite game

I really liked the excitement of this game because Nancy has to save her friend. I also liked Nicolas disrupting the press conference. What I don't like was that Nancy was way too trusting of the suspects when she didn't know who did it. If I had been working the case, I would not have told anyone I was expecting a package and I definitely would not have trusted anyone else to show the police the evidence.

    an 8!

I gave this one an 8 out of 10.

It's still one of my favorites. My sister and I played this one together and there were quite a few moments that we were in a panic. lol :P I loved all the snooping backstage and in the projector room.

    8 out of 10

Overall I really liked this game. The reason I only gave it an 8 out of 10 was because it was soooo short. It felt like I only played it for about 4 hours and was done. I don't know which is shorter, this game or Secret of the Old Clock. I loved the plot, loved the setting and I was thrilled with how much snooping I got to do. Whenever I was stuck, Ned, Bess and George were really all I needed to get a hint in the right direction. One thing I really like in these games are hidden passageways and/or secret rooms, this game totally delivered. The other reason I liked this game was there were no tedious chores you had to complete (like in Shadow Ranch!!!!), this was really pure sluething which I love!
