Plot
Captain's Cove amusement park has experienced a recent chain of bad luck. A carousel horse was stolen and the roller coaster mysteriously stopped mid-ride, harming one of the passengers. But that's not what you, as Nancy Drew, have been hired to investigate. Your job is to figure out why the carousel has been starting up, all on it's own, in the dead of night. Is it merely a practical joke? Or is something other-worldly invading the park?
The plot sounds interesting enough but I wish it would've been creepier. A theme park has loads of creepy potential and I wish it had been realized just a tiny bit. As it is, the game is about as scary as a car wash.
Also, the title "The Haunted Carousel" is a tad deceiving since you spend very little time at the actual carousel and more time investigating other incidents.
Oh and there is wayyy to much talking on the phone.
and the ending is a bit abrupt.

Graphics and Setting
The graphics are more or less the same from SSH and GDML. Really, my only complaint would be the characters' hair. I just couldn't figure it out (Is it spikey? Is it a pony tail?). I don't know if that makes any sense but if you've seen a picture of any of them, you might know what I'm talking about.
There are quite a lot of locations within the park, only none of them are particularly big. It's not an issue, but it can feel unnatural to leave parts of the room unexplored (because you simply can't go in those areas) The only place you go outside of the park is your hotel room.
I give it: 6/10

Puzzles
There are a lot of puzzles and puzzlicious activities but all of them are pretty easy. Some people complain that the game is too simple but I just think of it as being a lighter game (like reading a magazine versus a novel) And for me, easy is good

Characters
Overall I think the characters are pretty cool. Well thought out, suspicious, defined personalities...yeah that's about it. But I have to admit that my favorite was not human at all...spoiler free, remember?

Ending *Spoiler Free*
The ending seems to come a bit too soon. Despite this, it's a pretty great ending. The culprit was hard to guess but not completely out of the blue (like DAN or TRN) and the actual game play had a few steps and a few ways to mess up. I like to think of it as how TRT should've ended

Overall
You've probably read reviews that have said "it's too easy" and "it's too short" and I can't deny that it is one of the easiest games. But that doesn't mean that it's not good. So if you're looking for a not too challenging, not spooky, fun game, CAR is a great option.

Creepiness (10 equals terrifying): 1/10
Difficulty (10 equals hair pulling): 3/10
"Should I buy this game?"
There isn't a single ND game that I wouldn't recommend. If you end up not enjoying this game, don't let that stop you from trying others in the series. There is a ton of variety.
