Broken elevator

I am very stuck at this point in my game and can not figure out what to do next. I have already

searched Hotchkiss's room and entered the library both ways

The only way I can get into the elevator is through the basement and it won't move when I press the floor levels. On the other levels, Nancy always says "It's locked" when I try to open it. I am very stuck so any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Have you tried asking Dexter about it? I think he tells you how to repair the elevator. Also, moving forward in time using Nancy's clock might help you progress in the game. Try talking to everybody and keep an eye out for new clues. ;)

Yeah I talked to everyone but no one has anything to say to me. Also, Nancy hasn't acknowledged that the elevator is broken so I'm not able to tell Dexter. I just found

the oil can by the radiator

but I'm not sure what to do with it yet. Thanks for the help!

I think you can still fix it. Go down to the basement and

pull the red lever next to the light switches.
