    Warnings at Waverly Academy
    A review by Songlily

    Mode:
    Senior Detective

    Plot & Ending
You as Nancy Drew enroll undercover at an exclusive all-girls boarding school to
sniff out the perpetrator of threatening notes and strange accidents.
Soon, another mystery involving the school's history and Edgar Allen Poe
begins to emerge. Engaging plot! Also, the ending is brilliant: time crunch,
    creep factor, puzzle--excellent.

    Setting & Graphics
The setting is an old boarding school in upstate New York. The building is
beautiful, and while there's nowhere else to go, you can explore a little bit
outside. The graphics are as bright and vibrant as RAN, but the character
graphics have not improved; the faces of some of the characters felt
    a bit wonky.

    Time, Transportation, & Gameplay
Time does pass in the game, and Nancy's phone is equipped with an alarm clock
to speed it forward if necessary. This is useful and at times necessary.
Transportation of any kind isn't needed. You'll all be happy to know that there is
NO third person gameplay in WAC! This was a welcome change from RAN.

    Characters & Phone Friends
Wow! Characters are perfect. This is exactly what I'm looking for in a game.
There are five suspects instead of two or three, and you are able to converse
with them throughout the game. There is not too much conversation nor
too little. You also got to dig a little into their secrets and discover more about
their personalities. I was very pleased with the characters. Ned is the primary
phone friend in this game :)

    Exploring & Snooping
YES. YES. YES. The return of snooping! I would still prefer more, but there is
some snooping in this game--exploring rooms you shouldn't be in, or sneaking
around after hours. It was a refreshing change from the last several games.
I would love to see HER include more of this. Unfortunately, like the most
recent games, there ware generally not enough things to click on, but overall
I was satisfied with the exploring in this game.

    Puzzles, Games & Activities
WAC provides a very balanced mix of puzzles and activities. Some of the chores
you must do for other characters are more like puzzles instead of chores,
and the ones that are not puzzles are still interesting. You are required to run the
snack shop, but it is not as intensive as cooking in ICE. Ice Hockey, Darts, and a
memory game are also available for your entertainment. Overall, a very good
array of activities. I was pleasantly surprised by the challenging nature
of the puzzles; none of them were too easy for me, and most required
    some note-taking.

    Etc.
Like RAN, WAC required me to work out puzzles on paper and really take some
good notes. WAC also requires more reading within the game, which is always a plus.
I would have preferred even more, though. My one beef with the game was length:
it was too short; however, I would still highly recommend this game, especially
if you did not like RAN.

    9/10

Wow, that was an amazing review! You really described the game perfectly.
Just wondering...what do you think the scare factor was in this game? It is controversal in all different reviews, so I was just wondering what your thoughts were about it.

      Great review!

Just saw your comment, Meggie, so I apologize for the late reply. I don't think WAC is all that scary; the ending is a bit creepy, but otherwise, I'd say WAC is more suspenseful than scary. Certainly nowhere near MHM, CUR, SAW, or even HAU.
