..........................MyCatTilly Presents,
Plot
The Redondo Spa is under attack! Nancy goes undercover to investigate the recent bombings at the upscale resort, and everybody is a suspect. Could the culprit be after money, attention, or revenge? It’s up to you, as Nancy Drew, to find out before…tick…tick….boom!
The storyline sounded pretty exciting when I first saw the preview at the end of LCC, but it turned out to be (for lack of a better phrase) dumbed down. The bombs were harmless, filled with goo, rotten eggs, or something equally non-threatening. But despite my initial disappointment, the plot wasn’t bad. Cartoonish? Yes. But some decent twists made up for it.

Graphics
The Dossier series still looks great. The only major difference that I noticed was that there were, at times, animated characters in the scenes. You still have conversations in the big text box, but now if somebody is in the room while you’re snooping, you’ll actually see them there as a little 3-D character. A nice update. I approve ;)
The character designs seem to have become a bit more cartoonish but, in my opinion, it works just fine for the Dossier series.

Puzzles/Gameplay
The game play here is virtually the same as LCC and I still dig it.
The mini-games in RED are amusing and creative enough, but perhaps a bit simplistic at times.
The one thing that really got me, was the task of chasing down a dog numerous times in the game. It came across as a cheap ploy to keep us busy. That whole thing was just odd.

Characters
The characters here are very unimaginative. The snooty rich woman, the drama queen actress, the mad scientist, and so on. While it’s not ideal, the purpose of the characters is different in the Dossier series than the Adventure series. So, I don't see it as a major problem to the game as a whole.

Overall
RED took little steps back, and little steps forward. Ultimately, it’s at the same level LCC, but that's not a bad thing in my book. It's still a fun experience that I would recommend to anyone.
Overall score: 8/10
Creepiness (10 equals terrifying): 0/10
Difficulty (10 equals hair pulling): 2/10
"Should I buy this game?"
There isn't a single ND game that I wouldn't recommend. If you end up not enjoying this game, don't let that stop you from trying others in the series. There is a ton of variety.
Happy Gaming!
