I think the "returning friend" is Professor Hotchkiss. She's a research/historian/author and she would fit right in this story. I hope Frank & Joe Hardy are phone friends also.

I'm thinking it'll be Sonny Joon's doodles. Remember in CAP it said on his resume that he worked in Egypt? Maybe that's our clue that he's left his drawings there for us to find. On top of that, he is technically a "returning friend" because his notes have been in mutliple previous games.
I hope this is the case because who doesn't love Sonny Joon!
