I just don't see HeR violating cannon and having Nancy's mom actually be alive. She's dead, but there's are still a number of possibilities for a mystery. The phone call could have been a trap, or Nancy will find out that the circumstances of her mom's death were actually nothing like the story she and her father always believed.

I guess dead, I mean it would be cool if they could all be a family together again but still Nancy would be heart broken that her mother lied and so would her dad.

I think Samantha Quick (in VEN) was perfectly capable of "phone-tapping" Nancy. I mean--didn't Nancy make phone calls to Ned in VEN? In VEN, SQ was posing as a student, but that doesn't mean she's Nancy's age. Since she was wearing sunglasses, it's possible that they were covering up age lines. Maybe SQ worked with Nancy's mom?SCK STFD MHM TRT FIN

May sound cold, but I'll definitely have to say she had better be dead. I've been a fan of Nancy Drew since I was 5 or 6 years old, so longer than many HER fans have even been alive. Nancy's mom being dead has been a constant since the first Nancy Drew books came out in 1930, so for several decades longer than I've been alive. I'm really wanting HER to stay faithful to the books where Nancy's mom is concerned & not sure I could accept any storyline that has her mom being alive &, as her mom is made reference to occasionally in the games, such a storyline would make me unsure about buying any future games. I'm not sure how I feel about the whole Nancy's mom was a spy storyline, but as long as they don't make her have been alive longer than Carson & Nancy knew she was, I could probably accept it since it doesn't go against the books (depending on cause of death since I'm fairly certain that one book says she died from an illness) as there aren't really any details about her mom in the books, no career (or lack thereof) mentioned, of course, in 1930, one could assume it was more likely she didn't have a career, but it's possible she did."I'm going to need a SWAT team ready to mobilize, street-level maps covering all of Florida, a pot of coffee, twelve jammie dodgers and a fez."
