I honestly have mixed feelings as well about this. I think it would change a lot about the history of the books. I thought about something when I was watching the trailer after finishing GTH; what if someone is trying to trick Nancy into believing her mom is alive to trap her? It would be interesting either way.

Like what would happen to Hannah? would she stay or leave since nancy's mom is alive? Will nancy even solve mysteries? And this is just my theory, but if nancy's mom was murdred, why did Carson keep it a secret after all these years? Does Hannah even know what happened to Nancy's mom? and if she is alive, why didn't she come back? And will nancy ever forgive her dad for lying about something big as this for so long. Maybe we should stick with nancy's mom dying when she was 3, even though it's awful. I mean, I don't want to sound like an awful person but I don't know, maybe things will work so I'm happy with either way, but the games are based of the books and all of the books say Kate died.
For one thing, Carson may not have known about Kate's spy life, and the authorities would certainly have covered up any government related aspects of her death. Carson could have known nothing.
If Carson DID know about Kate's spy life, he may have suspected the truth, but felt that taking care of his motherless daughter was more important than finding the truth.

I hope that HeR doesn't bring Kate Drew back to life, but I would love to find out more about her!

I don't want to seam like a horrible person, but that's carolyn keen's chracter: Nancy Drew grew up without knowing much about her mother. Hannah Guren, the housekeeper has always been like a second mother to nancy. I think it be better if kate died, which would be horribe for nancy but staying true to Carolyn Keen. Also I think carson KNEW about Kate's spy life. The reasons Carson didn't tell nancy is because he probably didn't want nancy growing up knowing her was murdred, and he waited too long to tell her and know he knows she loves to solve mysteries, so know he dosen't want to tell her because he alreadly lost his wife and he dosen't to loose his daughter.AND if nancy's mom is alive will nancy forgive her mom for never coming back? I think it be better if we found out how Kate died.

Who knows? Maybe she actually isn't alive. She could have passed away at the time not from a car crash, but perhaps an assignment (if it's true she is a spy). Nancy could figure out the truth about her mom's past.

If Nancy's mom is really alive this changes Nancy Drew from book #1.
And most importantly in this game will we get to see Kate Drew, I mean we haven't seen Carson yet, or to mention Hannah either......?

If Nancy's mother did turn out to be alive, that would be wonderful. On the other hand, it would be just.....I don't know. It would change the history of Nancy Drew.

I mean, I'm excited for this game (extremely excited!) but having Nancy's mother be alive would change everything. There would be so many questions.

If she is alive, why she didn't come back?
    Is she really a spy?
Does Carson Drew know something about her that he never told Nancy?
    It would so confusing.

I'll guess we'll just have to wait and see.....

That would be cool, but VERY complicated. To prevent spoilers in future games, Nancy's mum would not be mentioned, and in order for that to happen, Nancy's mother would have to say something like, " I'm sorry Nancy, but this will be the last time we can be together."

I just cant see that happening.

In a Hardy Boys game, it's revealed that SQ is a teenager.

SQ actually worked with the Hardy boys in treasure on the tracks(you could even play as her!) and she is definitely a teen. She works for a teenage spy organization just like the Hardys work for ATAC.
I prsonally think that SQ found out the secret of what happened to Nancy's mom, and sent Nancy the message with the last recording of Nancy's mum. She might have disguised her voice because the killer is on the loose.

May sound cold, but I'll definitely have to say she had better be dead. I've been a fan of Nancy Drew since I was 5 or 6 years old, so longer than many HER fans have even been alive. Nancy's mom being dead has been a constant since the first Nancy Drew books came out in 1930, so for several decades longer than I've been alive. I'm really wanting HER to stay faithful to the books where Nancy's mom is concerned & not sure I could accept any storyline that has her mom being alive &, as her mom is made reference to occasionally in the games, such a storyline would make me unsure about buying any future games. I'm not sure how I feel about the whole Nancy's mom was a spy storyline, but as long as they don't make her have been alive longer than Carson & Nancy knew she was, I could probably accept it since it doesn't go against the books (depending on cause of death since I'm fairly certain that one book says she died from an illness) as there aren't really any details about her mom in the books, no career (or lack thereof) mentioned, of course, in 1930, one could assume it was more likely she didn't have a career, but it's possible she did.

I think Samantha Quick (in VEN) was perfectly capable of "phone-tapping" Nancy. I mean--didn't Nancy make phone calls to Ned in VEN? Her saying "Say hi to Ned for me?" was like saying "I've been listening in your calls."
