MID Discussion, Release Date, Unity Etc

This one thread is for MID discussion and the only thing to discuss is what is going on, unfortunately. If you don't want to talk about MID (which for now is only delays) than there are many other threads, or you can start your own on a topic you are enthusiastic about. The purpose of the boards isnt to only be positive, it is to exchange respectful opinions, and let people engage on ideas : )

I haven't seen anyone being disrespectful of HER - Just people wondering what's happening with MID as HER hasn't told us anything about the game pretty much at all since the trailer.

tsukiakari - I agree with you. I keep wondering if they were going to release it with the old team, but then for some reason, changed over to unity and decided to delay the game? Or if they decided doing Codes & Clues would be better for some reason (I can't see why - Their fanbase is clearly women, mostly in 20's or 30's).

Think we should all be a bit optimistic at least for a bit longer all a long HeR has said MID would be coming hopefully in 2016 and at this stage its still June so I wouldn't worry too much at the moment and if HeR Delivers on its promises in the August 2015 letter then I think it would have been worth the wait.

Wonder how far they are away from Beta Testing MID? I remember when the MED beta leaked in Feb of 2014 and that was around 3 months before MED's release. Assuming something from MID does leak could we hear about it as early as next month?

Perhaps they're no longer doing public beta testing and are only testing within the office (or wherever the game is even being made now). It would make sense since this is such an anticipated release.

I've tried to stay optimistic throughout all of this. I so desperately want to believe that HeR will come back from this long lull better than ever, but even I am starting to doubt that. There is absolutely no response about anything! Honestly, I feel like it's this new CEO's fault. I feel like she's completely changed HeR's values of just making great games for her own agendas. I hope MID comes out this year, or even at all, but I'm really doubting that for the first time. HeR needs to get their act together, because they are losing very strong, long time fans, who will always buy the games, like me. I find myself coming to the boards less and less. There's nothing new. You know the demographic for the games, and this literally makes no since to start a branch of kids games. You know your side projects never work out. Why not stick to the big money maker, which is the adventure games? It makes absolutely no since, and I'm feeling pretty used as a customer. I have next to no loyalty left with HeR.

I totally get you, but honestly, I wonder how many sales they could possibly lose for not keeping us at updated as we're used to. I mean, are people really going to hold a grudge and *not* buy the game, whenever it comes out? I suppose they're thinking they'll at least make that up with reaching new people. Who knows, we'll see.

I don't think MID would have any issues. But if people are frustrated because the game took so long to get out, frustrated because Her has not kept us informed, frustrated if Her eventually changes the release time to 2017 and frustrated if the communication continues this way, I could see some people being a lot less accepting of all the changes that are going to be made to the game. If MID ends up being really different, it just adds to the frustration and I could see people giving up and not anticipating the new games like they used to.

That is a valid point because if the game does come out in a few months, and there's no major changes apart from the Unity changes and Lani being gone, I'll still likely buy the game. However, if they don't release the game this year, or it has so many changes to it than the last 32 games that we're used to, I would be less inclined to buy it... The longer they wait, the easier it is to just slip away from the fan base and never even hear if it does eventually get released

I mean I guess we can't really expect the games to continue to be the same you know? I've been a fan of Nancy Drew games ever since Secrets can Kill and obviously they have come a long way. Maybe for the better and maybe not. If there are more changes to this game I guess we will just have to adapt just like we did with the others. I for one am looking forward to seeing what MID will bring us!

I don't think it's people would hold grudges but more, they could lose casual fans who aren't hardcore and checking for information, but are used to two games being out a year. A casual fan might assume nothing's happening, and HER has moved on to other things. A lot of the posts we see on facebook or twitter say "I haven't kept up, is the new game out?"

I think a lot of people are just frustrated by the lack of information, impatience for a new game, etc. When you come down to it, they probably feel this way because they enjoy ND games so much and just really can't wait for the next one. When the game actually is released, they may not buy it at first, but will probably buy it out of curiosity or after looking at people's video walk throughs online. HeR is a smart company. You know how sometimes when you know a secret that no one else knows and you're like 'if only they knew...'? I think HeR is experiencing this feeling right now if that makes sense. They know their plans and they probably can't wait to tell us, but they want to make sure everything is ironed out first so they don't release false information.

I personally check the HI website about once a week in case I missed an email for some reason about any information regarding MID because I am so excited for the next game lol. The lack of information does make me wonder what HeR is up to, but I expressed some of my theories about the next game in other threads.

I have been encouraging people to play the games in order all over again, and I also encourage you to be active on the message boards because there are still people out there who have created fun threads in the House of Games forum and also people who need help on ND games they're playing right now. Overall, I suggest to think positive. HeR isn't going to throw a curveball at us.

I love what you said about that, QueenofSpades, and I totally agree! I am dying to hear something, anything about the game, but until they actually release something (which I really hope happens soon), I will find other things to occupy my time. There are a lot of games I haven't played in awhile, so another thing was just added to my to do list.

I agree, but I don't think there is anything we can do to coerce HeR into releasing anything. So I think the best way to use this energy is to be active on the message boards and to replay the games.

If it makes you feel any better, I saw LJ mention in one of the most recent AS blog posts that the design stage was almost complete with MID. Seems they're moving along pretty quickly!
