  • Where would nancy go next?

I know Nancy has been to several countries(I can't think of all of where she's been at the moment), but where should she go next?

something with peru and machu piccu or argentina would be interesting! An animal research center or national park in tanzania or kenya would be pretty cool [email protected]!

1- I mentioned elsewhere that I would love it if Nancy went to the Okovango Delta, so of course I'd love if she went to Botswana. Lots of animal-centric options there, especially with the Big Five.

2 - Monte Carlo, Monaco could be interesting. What with the casino and the car race, there are some good possibilities for a mystery and for some fun puzzles/tasks for Nancy.

3 - Portugal - Nancy could visit a friend who is refurbishing ruins there, and could stumble across a mystery.

Other countries I'd like to see Nancy visit: India, Russia, Israel, Singapore, Morocco, Nepal, Iceland, Hungary, Mexico.

(And while it's not a country, I'd love to see Nancy solve a mystery set entirely onboard a ship.)

The ship idea is supercool, and I would love a game set in Russia! She could find one of the missing Fabergé eggs!

I'm pretty sure that she has been to Iceland in SOD, but it would be cool to explore more of it in depth instead of just a small town/ship/caves. I can't remember if she has been to China and that if not she could be there for Lunar New Year. They receive red envelopes full of money in the Lunar New Year festivities and someone could receive a threatening letter instead of money perhaps?
Update as I'm typing this: She has been to Germany, Austria(briefly in MID), New Zealand, Canada, Bahamas, Ireland, Scotland, England, Venice, Paris, Japan, Egypt, and Iceland. She's been to various places in the states, including Hawaii. Another suggestion could be Alaska or Australia. A cruise mystery would be nice too to be honest, but maybe someone causes it to get "shipwrecked" on an island, perhaps because there is treasure there?

You're right. Funny I forget that, since SEA is actually my favorite ND game. I just never get the feeling of being anywhere in particular, in spite of the nods to the country like the language game and the story of the volcano and the cultural center. (VEN and DAN and SPY, for instance, really feel to me like Nancy is in those countries.) I suppose I just want something that feels more specifically like being there. as compared to being a generic cute and quirky fishing village.

I'm less fond of the idea of Nancy being "shipwrecked", because I didn't really like RAN all that much. I know she's not actually shipwrecked in that one, but I fear that if Nancy were shipwrecked, I'd end up having to do similar tasks to the ones in that game.

So the River Heights Cultural Something-or-Other is celebrating the gradual emergence of the town from Covid isolation. While isolated, many people watched and re-watched new and old shows and then voted on the show they wanted to re-create. They chose Gilligan's Island. Nancy and her little friends will join other townsfolk and have roles or perform behind-the-scenes tasks in order to bring this shipwreck tale to life....

              What.

But if she were going somewhere else, as this thread suggests, she could travel to one or more National Parks. This keeps her in the United States. Would people in other countries like her to visit the National Landmarks there?

What are you, one of the Hardy Boys?
Hey. The Hardy Boys solved every case!
(look for it in The Gourmet Detective: Death al Dente movie)

How fun would it be if there was a mystery at the zoo!

This leads directly to one of my dream games.... Picture it: tptb choose The Hardy Boys Digest # 139, The Search for the Snow Leopard, for a future game. They can use the Hardy Boys and their little friends along with Nancy Drew and her little friends, even though this book is just a Hardy Boys story. (Artistic license can work well here.) Chet works at the zoo. That's it. That is all I am going to tell you about the plot of that book. tptb in game world can decide how closely to follow the given zoo story and even include Chet and other book characters who should appear in at least a few future games. If they appear periodically in the HB and ND books, they can appear periodically in the games. Yes?

I'm not Australian, but I would love for Nancy to visit the Sydney Opera House. The building itself looks fascinating and could be a cool backdrop for a mystery if one of Nancy's friends was about to make a concert debut there or something.

That sounds pretty interesting to be honest. Great suggestion!

I think it would be really fun for Nancy to do a “Where is Carmen SanDiego” type of adventure where each place she ends up she has to follow the clues to the next place.
He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.

Please do not laugh. I am an older player who loved that game. Kudos to Veja. So here is a fleeting thought which should be replaced daily with other fleeting thoughts... Various resources indicate that there is something to know or be aware of every day of every year. We can look at daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly formats. Close to our ND world and yet from the real world: Today is National Cheeseburger Day in the United States. Mind you, this could lead directly to a potential fun thing for Joe "Cheeeeeeeessseebuuurrrrgggeerrr" Hardy. But what else could be selected for a fun moment for other game characters from the US and other countries? What celebrations exist in the good ol' USA and other countries that could provide moments of fun and/or awareness as we play games and learn things?
What are you, one of the Hardy Boys?

Not to answer my own question or anything, but as Hotchkiss exclaimed: "Eureka!"

I found this amusing show called 'The Goes Wrong Show' and between belly laughs I thought of ND books and ND games. In one book, Nancy and her little friends play-act with the Footlighters. They put on a period piece (Civil War, I think) and the episode called 'The Lodge' is a period piece of sorts and a bit like 'The Ghost and Mrs. Muir' meets... well... I won't spoil it for you. This show is the work of a real life, talented brand; we know that real life places, things, and concepts were found in ND books. We saw theaters and plays in ND games, but we did not see anything like this. I don't know if Ellie's gummy bears could pull off something like these shows, but Nancy and her little friends could be in the plays within the plays within the game.Perhaps they could reminisce about the good old days, some older and better than others, and show us the real truth behind some of the ooky happenings....
                            😱 ⛈😱👻😱

We could then have at least snippets of our beloved earlier games which have become unplayable for some people along with the stories behind the stories and a bit of mischief. If you are interested in looking up the reference, you will have to do that on your own because no outside links are permitted here. Happy sleuthing!
